Always make sure you wrap the finger to avoid stains.
Step #03
Open your shoe polish of choice and set fire to the contents with a lighter. Leave the flame to cover the surface area of your polish and then replace the lid to extinguish the fire. Open the polish container again and apply it with the use of a separate clean rag.
Bottom-line
Keep the flame far from flammable materials such as cloths. While most lighters come with warnings on how long the flame should last, it is good to adhere to the warnings.
Step #04
Once you melt the polish, apply it in a small and circular motion to a part of the shoe. Sprinkle some water on the part you polish and then apply another layer on the same part. Repeat the process with the entire shoe surface making sure that you polish all the areas.
After you polish the entire shoe, wrap a cloth firmly around your index finger and make sure there are no folds on the finger on the front surface. Circle the finger inside the polish container as this should give you enough polish to work with.

After you brush the entire shoe, repeat the process until the shoe gets a bright and a shiny finish. Once you feel that the polish you have in your finger is less, you can always change the amount. However, keep in mind that it is better to have little than too much.
